Bill Strobeck Interview

As you may have noticed I haven't been updating the site very well, so to make up for that I interviewed Bill Strobeck for the last issue of the zine'. Here is the interview for you to read, Gilbert Crockett Interview coming soon.

When did you start filming?

started filming for fun when i was like 16,my grandmother bought me a crappy panasonic 8mm camera.i liked documenting from the get go,i could tell.

Who did you film with then?

syracuse skateboarders-korey,goose,shawn,andy e,aron singleton, mikey, young will, airplane, dietz, cannon, alex, kev, spike, marcus, terrance t-dog that whole crew..most of them live in brooklyn ny now and i'm very close with them like family.

What was your favorite project to work on?

my favorite project i have worked on has been maybe the dill, pappalardo, and johnson articles i've done for theskateboardmag-they were all my vision as far as editing and layout.or maybe the cover i did for vice with a bunch of woman blowing bubble gum bubbles.working with girls is great.

Favorite Person to film?

JR(jen reynolds) she is on my site..shes a fire ball of personality, and pretty much the 7 main people ive worked in the skateboard world.

Weirdest person/thing you've seen in nyc?

i don't know but i'll give you a little story..a.v.e and i came to ny on a greyhound from philly to skate with dill in like 2002.so we got in a cab from the station and we were driving down to dill's place which is 35 blocks at least..on our way are cab driver got in a fight with another cab driver.it was insane they were smashing into the side of each other wiht us in the back seat like a movie.rediculious..
i hope i didnt dream that. im sure it happend.

What music are you currently listening to?

what i've listened to today- elivs, music from the 50's,(christmas carol- manson girls- courthouse vigil)on youtube, john frusciante's second solo album(smile from the streets you hold),jimmy hendrix demos....

Who are you favorite filmers?

in skateboarding-dan sturt, that old stuff in h-street videos looks raw too,im not into the whole "step forward" movement.its like taking an ugly girl and putting make up on her-doesnt make her any more attractive-it makes it worse

And finally what project are you currently working on?

im working on a lil film with mark gonzales(actually in editing with that right now) and it has a bunch of people we know in it,also a compilation video of all my favorite stuff that ive filmed in the last 11 yrs.gunna be awhile for that, but its underway.

thanks man
